Today is my birthday!! 36 years on this planet, I’m getting old guys!! Thanks so much to everyone for the bday wishes, I appreciate it! And thanks to everyone who “bought me a slice of cake” via Venmo and cashapp at GatorChris1 haha I’ll make sure to send some cake the gator’s way😂😂😂. Since it’s my bday I wanted to reshare my most popular video from this year! ~~~Gator underwater hunting strategies. It’s a strange and common myth that gators can’t bite underwater, always say it’s not like they ask the fish to jump out of the water so they can eat . This sweeping motion is a common way for gators to hunt fish. ~~~You can come swim with me and Casper! If you want to come join you can book online now, go to www.crocodilechris.com Let me know if you want to go! Observation and photos only at @evergladesoutpost and tour participants are separated from gators by safety fence. Remember all the gators you see me working with are rescue nuisance gators, caught from the wild as big as you see them now! The state kills 7k-8k each year. We volunteer our time to catch & rescue them and bring them to sanctuaries, unpaid. Broken jaw gator! Remember when she was in the pond with Casper? I did a few videos back when she was in with him. Broken jaws like this are common in the wild as a result of fighting and usually end with the gator eventually dying because they can’t typically hunt well with the broken jaw. Some make it, but it’s usually a death sentence. Thankfully this one was caught as a nuisance gator and now gets to live her life out at @evergladesoutpost as a rescue. I like to remind everyone ANY and EVERY body of water in Florida, at some point, has gators. We have even caught adults out of big puddles, they might not be living there but might be taking a rest there while looking for new territory, so always keep kids and pets away from the water’s edge. And never feed them!! Feeding wild alligators is illegal in Florida, and often results in the alligator having to be euthanized. Please never feed wild alligators! The biggest problems are people feeding them, kids and pets near the water, people swimming in gator habitat, and people calling because the animal simply exists. Regardless the reason, they’re almost always killed. Relocation is illegal due to their homing ability, so the only two options are captivity or killed, and the only way a trapper gets paid is by killing the gator and selling the meat and hide, so 99.99% are killed. The state kills about 7-8 thousand a year like this. We’re some of the only ones who will volunteer our time, unpaid, to rescue them instead of killing them. 🎥 by @george_da_nature_dude_ #Gator #alligator #alligatorrescue #Everglades #glades #Rescue #southflorida #florida #animals

Freediving at night with bull sharks with my buddy @x__e__l__a 🦈 Watching sharks swim through the darkness at night is really incredible, it really feels like you’re free floating in the void of space!! Sharks are among the top predatory animals on this planet, first appearing 420,000,000 years ago. I could’ve said 400 million years ago but I really wanted you to look at that number and think about it. It’s an incomprehensible amount of time. That’s around 200 million years before he first dinosaurs. They have evolved into over 400 species living today, with many more existing in the past. Throughout this time sharks have evolved into varied forms, from the 60ft megalodon shark to the dwarf lantern shark at an adult size of just over 7 inches. There are many kinds of sharks in strange shapes from the goblin shark to the whale shark, but the “classic” #shark look has remained extremely successful throughout the eons. The evolutionary success story known as the shark has survived multiple mass extinction events, but many species of shark will not survive the current anthropocene extinction. That is the sixth mass extinction on our planet, currently happening right now and directly caused by humans. For those looking to learn more on that checkout The Sixth Extinction by Elizabeth Kolbert, but to keep relevant to sharks-many species’ populations have plummeted 80-90%. Do your part to help save them, never support shark fin soup or shark meat(yes this happens in US supermarkets), reduce seafood consumption as they’re often by catch, and help educate others! Don’t fish for sharks, even catch and release kills many through stress! All my dive gear is by @cressi1946 out with @x__e__l__a__expeditions I’m shooting with a Canon 90D, 10-22mm wide angle lens, Aquatica housing. #Shark #SharkDiving #Diving #Florida #SouthFlorida #BullShark #scicomm #Educational #EducationalVideo #AnimalEducation #EducationalPurposes

Injecting yourself with cobra venom?! On purpose?! Yep, that’s what Ray Hunter does! He self immunizes with diluted venom to create a resistance!! He’s a professional venomous snake handler and due to the dangers of his daily work he has created a resistance to certain snake venoms in his body, to the point where he could survive a bite that would certainly kill me. It’s absolutely incredible and I highly recommend you checkout the whole 30min conversation I had with him going over the ins and outs of his process, it’s posted up on my YT channel GatorChris. We really dive deep into this fascinating subject and he tells some crazy stories from his experiences. Obviously, never try any of this on your own!! At the Crutchfield reptile farm. Thanks so much for your time Ray, and checkout his channel @the_cobraman 🎥 by @george_da_nature_dude_ #venomous #venomoussnake #cobra #monocledcobra #venom #snake #reptile #scicomm #Educational #EducationalVideo #AnimalEducation #EducationalPurposes #elapidae

He’s got two left feet! Or two left hands??? What do you call these things 😂. I do like to joke around and have fun but as always guys, remember to never try anything you see in my videos and understand Casper is not a pet and even during this funny video I could slip up and lose a hand. Alligators are not the blood thirsty killing machines most people think they are, but they’re also certainly not puppies and we should always be very careful. Unfortunately, my job is a constant battle of balancing between getting people to understand, but unfortunately people often gravitate to extremes, and everyone always thinks he’s a tame puppy or a monster killer and I have to try to explain realities in the middle. ~~~You can come swim with me and Casper! How did I get into this line of work is one of the most common questions that I get. I don’t have some Hallmark card answer or some turning point moment that made me dedicate my life to this like people might imagine. 😂😂😂 I have just always loved animals and have always tried to find a way to make a living while pursuing my passion of spending time with animals. I have worked with alligators, crocodiles, snakes, sharks, all sorts of different creatures as a Tour Guide photographer, videographer, presenter, and all sorts of different jobs and aspects. Obviously, I never had a moment where I woke up and decided I wanted to swim with alligators today, I don’t know why everyone asks me that it’s got to be one of the dumbest questions I get😂😂😂😂 I have always loved animals in the process of working with the more dangerous Animals is always a gradual process with lots of learning and observation over years to get where I am today. ~~~You can come swim with me and Casper! I get asked all the time who would win in a fight between an alligator and a crocodile, or an alligator and a shark 😂😂😂. The truth is that Apex predators like this very seldom actually get into fights with each other as adults and avoid each other. Theyre trying to survive out there, not fight for ego lol. They are all opportunistic predators that prefer to take on smaller, easier targets. And even if you were to match up equally sized animals, they can really very widely by personality, so there is no clear cut answer most of the time. I’ve seen gators beat up crocs, crocs beat up gators, it can vary on many things. Just like MMA, anything can happen! ~~~You can come swim with me and Casper! Look how aggressive Casper is!! It’s crazy!!! 😂 He’s about the least aggressive gator, but it does bring up the question of aggressive gators and other animals and what the word “aggressive“ really means! They’re not aggressive animals at all in my book, in fact the only truly aggressive things that pop in my kind are humans (#1 by far) and hippos! I go into greater detail about all of this on my YouTube channel GatorChris, go check it out! ~~~You can come swim with me and Casper! When youre trying to feed him but he would rather eat your phone 😂 Jumanji is an African spur thigh tortoise, the third largest tortoise species in the world!! Sadly these tortoises are often sold as babies to people who have no clue or capacity to properly take care of them and they often suffer major health issues in captivity under improper care. Jumanji here is a huge healthy boy and we’re happy to have him!! #Tortoise #sulcata #Animal #reptile #Animals #Rescue #RescueAnimals #AnimalRescue

Florida lap dogs are different 😆🐊. As always guys, I like to make jokes but always remind everyone of the reality that Casper isn’t actually like a dog, he was not raised in captivity, he’s not a pet, he’s not tame, and would bite me if I do something wrong with him. ~~~You can come swim with me and Casper! Casper bellowing!!! I absolutely love it when gators bellow, I’ve seen it a thousand times and I still always get excited! I love it when they bellow, you can feel the bass pass through your body and imagine this is what dinosaurs sounded like! They even used gator bellow sounds in the T-Rex roar in Jurassic park! Alligators bellow to convey health and size information to surrounding gators for breeding, social, and territorial reasons. They bellow year round but with much more frequency in the breeding season. The sound emitted directly correlates to the gator’s size, providing an accurate size estimate to whoever is listening(and knows what to listen for!)When male alligators bellow, the powerful low frequency sound waves actually cause the water over their backs to bounce up, creating a “water dance” as you can see here. ~~~You can come swim with me and Casper!
