Choking is the fourth leading cause of unintentional death. These types of devices are often used when standard protocol fails to dislodge the object. In a research study this device was proven effective in approx 70% of cases while another airway clearance device was shown to be 99% effective. User error accounted for part of the inefficiency. This is not conducted in a controlled environment. This is my first time using this product. The second half of the object was dislodged with an alternate device. This is simply to show you my findings and also to remind you to do your research. Appreciate all of you that shared this PSA and I wanted to follow up with one last video helping parents understand what to do when this situation arises. When we recieved the news we were expecting twins our doctor gave us the best advice. He said, “There will be a moment when you break down and cry because it is just too much. Place the babies down safely, walk away, and breath. It will all be okay.” At the time we were only weeks into the pregnancy and it didn’t make much sense but when the moment came those words echoed inside of me. It is tradition now that when someone comes for a visit they get to put me in a bind to test out my escape tactics. For those of you new to my channel, my earlier videos were mainly escape tactics and they have helped a number of people escape real emergency situations. Double, triple, quadruple locked door will deter most amateur thieves but there are lock-picking experts out there that can get into just about anything which means there are criminals willing to do it as well…. The videos are convincing but the first red flag is no faces in any video. Why? Because it is hard to find (and hold accountable) a company selling ineffective safety equipment or knock-offs if you don’t know who is selling it. First rule is to never buy safety items that don’t have third-party testing. Second rule is to double check who is posting the items- are they a regiserer business? How long have they been operating? Accountability? When a car hits the water you typically have the front part sinking faster than the rear. The pressure on the driver and passenger windows will make it impossible to open the doors and breaking those windows will result in a rush of water that would be difficult (not impossible) to crawl through. Your best bet is to quickly head to the rear window which will likely still be out of the water. This is always measured on a case by case scenario but good to know where to start evaulating your exit in an emergency situation. Have your window breaker easily accessible. This GTFO bracelet is one of my favorites because it is wearable but I have also tested more than a few that are very effective. You keep telling me spark plugs easily break a window but these finicky little pieces need some pretty exact circumstances. Once they hit it just right it’s pretty awesome but I highly recommend not relying on spark plugs to break a car window. Not to mention in most states it is not legal to carry pieces of ceramic in your pocket.
